It's alive!

During my stay at IKEA, they decided to give me a bedroom space, a style expression, and a living situation to complete on my own. They told me this was to see the extent of my potential on executing a space from scratch.

The style expression given to me was called; popular traditional for a single established male.

I ran with this and decided that the man was going to be a thirty year old chef named Jacob who loved reading and worked night shifts.

I chose dark neutral tones with lots of texture. I did not over decorate because I feel a man in this position only likes his essentials.

There were lots of obstacles while bringing this design to life such as budget, materials available, and the IKEA codes. But when isn't there restrictions! That's what makes the space interesting.

I enjoyed this experience very much and wish to continue making beautiful spaces.

Work space 2

The style expression for workspace 2 is scandinavian traditional for an established middle aged couple who enjoys to read.

The traditonal pine HEMNES collection had just arrived to IKEA, Edmonton. So we decided to try to fit as many pieces in as possible. The hints of teal metal and bold contrasts add a scandinavian appeal. This is one of my favorite rooms!

The exit podium

At Ikea, we do what is called activity areas. This is a Chistmas themed activty area by the exit doors. The visuali merchandizers partner up with the Interior Dsigners to create somthing unique and appealing. For this original podium, we used repitition, grouping, and products in different ways than they are intended for, such as the ornaments in the bowls, and  ribbon to join the utensils to look like candy canes.

A childrens space!

The style expression for this space is scandianavian modern for a 5 year old boy who enjoys reading and a 3 year old girl who enjoys playing with her kitchen and dining set.

The pine furniture makes this space scandinavian and the white straight edged furniture makes the space modern.  I ensured that each child would have their own space and style, but also making sure that the two spaces would be able to blend into one.

It's my bedroom!

For my bedroom I was going for somthing that was feminine with tinges of cottage chic, and a little bit of boho style as well. Over the years I collected interesting pieces like unique frames and this night stand from an antique store.
